Grabbing a book is like jumping into a pool.  You don’t quite know how it’s going to feel when you hit the water – but you know that you love swimming.  Reading is an adventure!  Grab as many books as you can and dive right in.  Reading different books will help you better know what you like!

Here are some books we know you’ll love.

Girls, Ages 4-7

  • The Clementine series by Sara Pennypacker

Clementine is always paying attention… just not to the same things everyone else wants her to.  This book is full of light-hearted humor in the eyes of a young girl.  We dare you to try to read through this series without smiling at least once!

  • Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans

Madeline will forever be a childhood favorite – set in France, a young girl at a boarding school suddenly needs to go to the hospital!  Beautiful illustrations make this book a classic – one that needs a home on your shelf.

  • The Frog and Toad series by Arnold Lobel

Well-suited for even the youngest among us, this collection of easy readers is an exploration of what it means to be a true friend.  Frog and Toad have many adventures together and learn how to support each other when things go slightly haywire!

  • Beezus and Ramona, and the rest of this series by Beverly Cleary

Do you have a little sister?  Beezus is always trying to keep her sister, Ramona, under control as she seems to get into everything around her!  Ramona always gets into trouble, rain or shine, and Beezus is usually there to save the day.  Join these two sisters as they team up to cause and resolve mischief!

  • Cilla-Lee Jenkins: Future Author Extraordinaire, by Susan Tan
